neo upgrade

Upgrade neo to the latest published release.

Only for installs made by the installer (curl -LsSf https://get.neosource.dev | sh, or install.ps1): it reads the receipt the installer left and replaces exactly the binary named there. A source build (just install, cargo run) is refused with a message saying how to rebuild it instead. The release archive’s SHA-256 is verified against the published manifest before anything is extracted, and the new binary must answer --version with the expected build before the old one is replaced. Once a day, other commands check the same manifest in the background and print one line on stderr when an upgrade exists; NEO_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1 or CI turns that off (see neo docs environment).

neo upgrade [OPTIONS]
Option Value Required Default Env Values Description
--check no Report whether an upgrade is available and change nothing. Exits 1 when an upgrade is available, so a script can key on it, and 0 when this build is current
--json no Print a machine-readable JSON object instead of text: current, latest, published_at (null when the manifest predates it), up_to_date and upgraded. Nothing else goes to stdout
